Monique Madison started doing drag in 1996. Beginning in Kalamazoo at the young age of 18, Monique has been lucky enough to perform all over the country with house cast positions in Chicago, Indianapolis, and Detroit. Monique just finished her first film role in "A Holiday I Do" and just wrapped on filming season one of a sitcom called The Agency, where she plays leading role Parker. Scheduled for release winter of 2024. Momo is also the author of The Serial Showgirls Series available on Amazon and Barns and Noble. Monique created The Kunty Kittens in 2016 with the intention of creating that divalicious girl group sensation that everyone loves and infuse it with the best drag personalities Michigan has to offer.
Yolanda Del Fierce is Kalamazoo's very own, 'Dancing Latina'. Hailing from the Haus of Madison, she has been entertaining all over Michigan for 10 years. 'Yoyo', as her friends call her, is known for her high energy and Latin performances. You can catch her all over touring Michigan with The Kunty Kittens.
TJ Rau has been performing as Reba Rose Rau since 2004 and has worked on multiple casts throughout the state of Michigan. Reba considers herself a "pageant queen" winning & representing multiple titles throughout her career and is currently Miss Michigan Gay World Comedy Queen. Reba does make almost everything she wears on stage but still claims she's most at home with a microphone in her hand and an insult dancing on her tongue! She is considered the Grandma of the Grand Rapids Drag Scene and continues to enjoy helping young Draglings learn multiple new & old tricks of the trade, even teaching courses on sewing & embellishments during Battle Creek’s Summer Camp.
Velma Violet is a high energy, rock n' roll party girl from Jackson, MI. Since coming to life in 2012 she has brought performances inspired by the woman of Rock and Metal to drag audiences throughout the South and Midwest. As a cast member of The Kunty Kittens you can catch her and her sisters partying all over Michigan. Her one request? Dust off your studs and fishnets and meet her in The Pit!
Having grown up in professional choirs and regional theater Betty J is no stranger to the stage and putting on a show! In 2016 she discovered how to take being on the stage to the next level and started doing drag. Blending modern fashion with drag extravagance and mixing in her classical music background created the perfect recipe for Betty J. Since 2016 she has performed on stages across the South and Midwest, competed in 4 pageants, and is now the Assistant Show Director for The Kunty Kittens. "Hold on tight" she says, "Things are just getting started"
Benjamin Violet dove headfirst into drag in 2017 after a lifetime of musical theater and top-notch choral ensembles, quickly establishing theirplace in the Grand Rapids drag scene through god awful dad jokes and fucking with the gender binary. Their charming blend of pretty boy punk and stupid camp has captivated audiences all over the state of Michigan and beyond. When not in drag, Benjamin can be found singing with the Grand Rapids Symphony Chorus or curled up at home with their fiancé, two cats, and a good book. (Serial Showgirl, anyone?) Benjamin Violet is your current reigning Mr. Kalamazoo Pride AllStar.
The Kunty Kittens were established in 2016 with five members from all over Michigan. Two of the original members moved on to other projects leaving Reba Rose Rau, Yolanda Del Fierce, and Monique Madison to search for the best of the best Michigan had to offer. Over time our litter grew with three more members consisting of Velma Violet, Benjamin, and Betty J. The magic and chemistry is incomparable. The Kunty Kittens are the original drag troupe of Michigan and have been celebrated for the last 8 years all across Michigan.
The Kunty Kittens do drag with a purpose by not only being positive and professional representatives of the Michigan LGBTQIA+ community but by also raising funds for organizations and non profits that are actively giving back to the community that we are a proud part of. We are blessed to be a part of a thriving community that through continued support and kindness always pushes us to be our best.
The Kunty Kittens are referred to as Michigans Messy Men in Dresses due to our drag shows being one of a kind! We vary from production numbers, celebrity impersonations, live singing, dancing divas, stand-up comedy, and fundraising. We always make sure that our audience is part of an engaging show and we often have acts planned for them to participate in. Don't be shy and come play with The Kittens.
